In the Karnataka assembly elections, surveillance teams, appointed by the Election Commission, have seized goods distributed in caches, jewelery and gifts worth more than Rs 120 crore in the state.
A senior official said that cash worth more than Rs 67.26 crore, liquor of Rs 23.36 crore, jewelery worth Rs 43.17 crore and pressure cooker of Rs 18.57 crore, sarees, sewing machines, gutkha, laptop and vehicle were seized.
The official said that a total amount of Rs 152.78 crore was seized in which 32.54 crore rupees cash was left after being found correct after the investigation. After declaration of elections for the Karnataka Assembly, according to official figures, narcotics of Rs 39.80 lakh were also seized.
These seizure surveillance team along with the police and income tax department together. The Election Commission has deployed these parties in the state to ban black money and the use of the goods distributed to woo people. There are elections in the state on May 12 and counting on May 15.
